2015 is going to be the year where outbound investments from China are going to be a major story. Not only generate IPO´s from Alibaba and JD, much capital that used to be locked up in China, is now looking for opportunities to go abroad. A few of our speakers at the China Speakers Bureau focus on that development.

Sam Crispin

Real estate is one of the key areas where Chinese capital flow into, an no better person to help you make sense out of the Chinese wishes for their investments than former Shanghai resident Sam Crispin. He was for twenty years one of the leading voices on real estate in China. Recently he moved back from Shanghai to the UK, following the Chinese money.

His analysis did not always concur with the headlines in media, looking for the latest disaster in China´s real estate. Especially in a fast moving market, Sam Crispin has tried to avoid the next call for a panic sell, without hiding the real problems in this market.

Howard French

Howard French

Former New York Times correspondent Howard French published this month his well-received book China’s Second Continent: How a Million Migrants Are Building a New Empire in Africa on how Chinese immigration is changing Africa.

On-the-ground reports show how Chinese migrants into Africa are different from what we thought, and Africans give their frank opinion about their new neighbors. French focuses on patterns he has discovered in Africa, but his observations certainly also help other continents to assess the Chinese visitors into their countries.

Joel Backaler

Joel Backaler

In 2014 the book by Joel Backaler China Goes West: Everything You Need to Know About Chinese Companies Going Global will be available.

Backaler covers the second biggest story after China started to open up: the country´s global expansion and its impact on Western multinational companies.

Backaler has served as a consultant for both private and state-owned Chinese companies. During his subsequent career with Frontier Strategy Group, Backaler was part of the founding team of its Asia Pacific office in Singapore, where he worked with Presidents of Asia Pacific for American and European multinational companies.

Mark Schaub

Mark Schaub

Lawyer Mark is partner at China and Asia´s largest law firm at King&Wood and Mallesons, and involved in almost all international transactions of his firm.

As a lawyer he had extensive experience in negotiating deals, firing people and otherwise dealing with the ignorance of companies entering the Chinese business minefield.

Mark Schaub has 15 years of legal experience in China and was the first foreign lawyer to enter a Chinese law firm.

Until recently he has been skeptic about the size of China´s outbound investments, but he finds himself more often outside China, to negotiate such deals, like in Israel recently.

Rupert Hoogewerf

Rupert Hoogewerf

Rupert Hoogewerf has been tracing China´s rich for over a decade. And he sees a trend in the way his research subject prepares for investments overseas. First, they go on a holiday as tourists. Then they send their children abroad. Then they start investing in some real estate, sometimes first apartments for their children and themselves.

Only then they have paved a way, and are ready to invest more abroad.
